Furrow and Windmill

Oil painting on paper of a farm furrow and windmill on the horizon

216 x 280mm | Oil on Paper

Day 14!!! My final painting for the holiday challenge. This was actually the one I started on day 11. Sat under the gum tree by the road in a gale force wind. I had to use to big rocks to keep my easel down. My chair threatened to be blown away if I dare even decide to stretch my legs for a bit. But that’s part of the fun of plein air painting. Its hard really to describe how wonderful an experience it is. Besides the technical aspect of improving ones skills, the pure enjoyment factor is huge! Artists confined to studios miss out so much.

You can catch up on the results of the “painting a day” challenge for the Christmas holidays on the farm here, including both the good and bad results!
